John Pond – Clear Pond Loop
This lovely, relatively flat loop hike passes through varied terrain including open meadows and pine and mature deciduous forest, and features views of Bullhead Mountain, pretty John Pond Brook, and John and Clear Ponds. The yellow marked trail can be hiked in a loop from either direction. Short, red-marked side trails lead to the ponds. John Pond offers a lean-to for overnight stays, and the John Pond Crossover Trail continues on to Puffer Pond and the interior of the Siamese Ponds Wilderness. A short side trail south of John Pond leads to the small grave site of two young children who died from diphtheria in 1897.
