Chester Creek Trail
This flat, family-friendly hike winds along Chester Creek and through the surrounding woods and wetlands. Several benches offer a place to sit and admire the view, and interpretive signs along the way offer interesting facts about the local flora and fauna. The trail is a great place to spot wildlife, especially in the early morning.
Take the Northway to Exit 25. Take Route 8 south for approximately 1.6 miles to US Route 9. Turn left onto Route 9 South. Continue for 0.4 miles to the Chester Municipal Center. Turn right and park in the parking lot. The trailhead is at the end of the parking lot.

Things to Do Nearby: Chester Creek Trail is part of the eight trail Chester Challenge. Stewart Mountain and Kipp Mountain, other trails in the challenge, are close by. The Chester Creek Trail is located right in the hamlet of Chestertown, on the Municipal Center property. Visit on Wednesdays during the summer to take advantage of the farmer’s market, or stop in to visit the Museum of Local History in the Municipal Center. Numerous shops and eateries are located within walking distance of the trail, or check out the buildings in Chestertown’s Historic District.
